Software Development

Tynemouth Computer Services (TCS) have extensive experience of developing software for a variety of tasks, mainly in the scientific and technical field. In addition to our well known Rally Results Software and a related system to produce results for orienteering competitions, we have undertaken projects to develop software for applications such as automated assessment of structural components to the ASME III nuclear pressure vessel standard, transfer of welding data from disparate sources to a standardised format, porting of operating systems to new hardware platforms, developed data logging software and written device drivers for special purpose equipment.

We currently develop for the Linux and Windows 32 bit platforms using primarily gpc and Borland Delphi. We are familiar with a number of other development tools including FORTRAN, Basic and Pascal compilers, Motorola 68000 and Zilog Z80 assembler and various data base systems. Our operating system experience includes Windows 3.1/95/98/NT/2000, Linux, Solaris, Irix, Unix and Novell. We have experience of designing, configuring and installing networks and communications equipment.

We aim to provide software that is robust and efficient in operation so that it does not require the latest cutting edge computer hardware. Above all we take pride in the correct operation of our software and promptly investigate and fix any reported problems.
